Default overheat=terrible engine noise

i was driving my '97 silverado pretty fast for a long time and i noticed it was getting really hot when the check gages light came on. i slowed it down but kept driving and it starting making a terrible noise and it wont start easily at all and sometimes stalls out. the temp gage seems to be maxed out even when the truck is cooled off. the engine sounds terrible and the truck is running terribly and you can tell that the engine is really unstable and it shakes a lot especially while idling. anyone have any input at all or opinions? i am not a car guy and have limited knowledge on the subject.

Default RE: overheat=terrible engine noise

Doesn't sound good ... who knows ... could be blown head gaskets.
