I have been looking into buying a performance programmer or a chip for my 06 Z71 5.3L. I ran across the Jet Performance Programmer and i was wondering if anyone had any experience with the product or advice on picking one.

 

I got a Diablosport Predator, for two reasons, I needed to reprogram my PCM chip with a new differential ratio, and to see if it could help my gas mileage. The Predator managed to reprogram the diff change, but so far I've seen no change in gas economy.

Nelson Tune, Black Bear and a few others are well thought of. They reprogram or replace the PCM chip itself, and seem to be far more effective, at a lower cost.

IMO, without being able to constantly monitor and log fuel usage, it's difficult to program your own system. Later when I've installed Fuel,Vacuum, and Fuel/Air Ratio gauges, I may try to reprogram the injectors myself, but if I wanted to do it right now, I'd leave programming the PCM chip to a professional.

 

you could also save that money...and get a performance tune from black bear or nelson performance..there are plenty of threads on here....there are others also..but these to companies seem to be able to modify to you everday wants and needs!!

CaptTrevStarr i see that you bought a jet performance programmer for you truck. how do u like it and how much more horsepower and torque did the programmer give you? since my truck is simiar to yours it might help me to make my decision.

to tell the truth it did wake it up...better throttle response..and better get up and go...and saw a lil improvement on mpg...i baught that before i knew about the custom tunes..so but needless to say after hearing bout nelson and the others..i prolly would have gone with them..
