Default Please help with 0301

I have a 1999 Silverado with the 5.3 motor and almost 240,000 miles. Coming home from a long trip the other day the check engine light came on and the truck started idling rough. I put the scanner on it and got the 0301 code. I pulled the #1 plug and it looked totally wasted so I installed a new one. My truck ran fine for a day and on the way home the check engine light came on again and I got the 0301 code again. I pulled the plug and it looked fine except that about 1/4 of the ceramic part was totally black. What does this mean? Any help would be appreciated.
