Power Seat Issue

Power Seat Issue
Hi All,
New here so be nice[sm=drooldude.gif]Searches in the forum have only lead to much reading with no answers so any help would be appreciated.
I just picked up a 2002 Chevy Suburban LT and the passenger power seat will not move fwd/bckwrds. The motor is working and it does attempt to move on the right side only which causes it to pivot slightly. There is a cable of some sort that stems from the motor to the left and right side of the seat rails to what looks like a small gear box. There is a plastic cover over the cable so I cannot see if the cable is broken.
1 - How in the world do I get this cover off?
2 - Has the gear box been a common issue on these seats?
3 - Is there a good online resource to find a drawing and/or parts list for these seats?
Thanks in advance

RE: Power Seat Issue
Had the same problem on my gm car, if you pull on that cable sheath towards one end of it and make it bow a little it will pop off if looking in from the front of the seat, if you can not get to it that way the seat cover should just pop loose just don't pull so hard that the plastic cracks, if it is that hard to pull off go to dealer so that if they break it they have to fix it

RE: Power Seat Issue
Well, looks like the gears are stripped out (or something pysilcally stopping the seat from movinf fwd/bkwd).
Here's an interesting find....
The seat must move fwd/bkwd to access the reverse torx bolts, how in the world do you remove the seat without being able to move it?

RE: Power Seat Issue
Problem Solved
Turns out the left side gearbox housing was slightly seperated (was difficult to see). I was able to compress the housing back together and it works like a champ. If it splits again it may be a good candidate for JB Weld.
