Default Power Steering Problem '01 Silverado

I have a problem with my power steering when I make a right turn. As I make a right turn the truck responds like I have no power steering. The problem is intermitent and only hapens when I make a right turn.
Any help with this is greatly appreciated.

Default power steering problem

I had the same problem with my 2004 siverado right turn no assist left turn ok , I changed the pump it was the same way , so I changed the gear box that solved the problem . I would imagine the pump is probably shot if you drove it with the bad gear box for any length of time .
Good Luck

Default power steering only when steering right

My truck (2005 Z71) just started this, but oppositte problem. It will turn right with power assist, but will not turn left with power assist. Turn left also makes whining noise.

Can anyone else confirm a gear replacement and/or pump?

Thanks,
Travis
