Default Puzzled...

So my 04 chevy 1500 crew cab started making a ticking kinda noise a month ago that I had just assumed was the lifters. Well going down the road i notice a loud noise all of a sudden and realize something has happened with my exhaust. When I crawled under the truck I noticed that my exhaust has broke all the way around near the weld of the pipe and flange. What would cause this?

By the way I pulled my exhaust and welded it back up and replaced it. The ticking noise is still there.

Was this the factory exhaust or has been replaced? It might not have been welded correctly to begin with. Also check for bad motor mounts.
