Radio removal for CD Repair
[8D] My 2004 Silverado's bose-6 Cd-XM radio, has something wrong with the CD player and I want to remove it and repair it(I think one of the CD's labels may have peeled off inside). Q is: Can I remove and reinstall the radio without activating the theftlock locking feature and if not, can I unlock it once I have reinstalled the unit?

RE: Radio removal for CD Repair
The stock radio in your 2004 Silverado has learned the VIN to your truck that it is installed in so long as you remove the radio and reinstall it in the same truck you will not have to unlock the Theftlock feature.
If it is installed in a different vehicle then it would need to be unlocked.

RE: Radio removal for CD Repair
Removed the unit and one of the drive gears is broken on the cd drive module. fiddled with it and reinstalled it in the truck, the unit recognised the VIN and worked fine. Thanks!!
Anyone have any Ideas on where to get just the CD drive module?

May be cheaper and easier to just buy another OEM radio form Ebay:
