Default Rear axle seals leaking

Hi, again. It's been sometime, 98 silverado, c2500, 5.7 vortec. I replaced the axle seals appx 2 months ago. I dont drive it much, but i notice now it is leaking again after a 4 hour road trip i took. What is the amount of lube to put back in the rear end when completely empty. when i did the seals last time I put 3 bottles of synsetic back in, could that be too much? and could that be why the seal are leaking, or just a bad pack of seals. I took a lot to make sure i did not nick them and the axle where smooth and clean. tks

I don't know the answer for sure, but I thought the proper fill amount for the diffy was to fill it to the fill hole.... but lets see what some of the other responses are...
As for the continued leaking I would be suspicious of the trueness of the shafts or possibly the bearings are worn...

when you fill the read diff, fill it till it starts coming out the fill hole as in2pro said. rear seals can be tricky, I have seen them leak a few times after puting in new seals. my buddy did 3 sets in a year, and now 3 years later still no leaking. They can be picky. if your towing a heavy load there is more of a chance for them to leak.

@Lariders,, thank you for your post. I dont haul anything heavy, it's mainly my comute truck and weekend projects. I will give it another set of seals, and see what happens...
@in2pro... thanks for ur post in refilling the diffy. as u stated, fill till it starts comming out the fill hole, that is what I did, so thank you, I did not want to feel as though i put to much in...LOL...
