Default removal of mirror cover

My buddy's passenger mirror broke. I was turning it in and the mirror popped off the vertical axle, and was only held on by the electrical. It looks like there is a retaining ring and maybe a spring that came off.

We got the mirror off easy enough. But how do you get the mirror itself open?

There should be screws on the cover somewhere.
