Replacing factory shocks with Bilsteins - Bushings
2007 Chevy Silverado, changing factory shocks:
For the top mounting bushing on the front shock absorbers, the factory ones had a nylon bushing that went into the middle of the frame. All of the rubber was in good shape.
The replacement shocks, Bilsteins, came with a standard rubber bushing, and did not have the nylon/rubber bushing system. Either setup fits the shocks.
Question is I think the original nylon bushing system looks much sturdier and I am probably going to reuse this with the new Bilstein shocks. (for the front only) Any thoughts on this?
Thanks for the help

Hi DNIC75,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
IMO, if install the Bilsteins with the original bushings, and you keep the bushings which came with the Bilsteins in the unlikely event of the original heavier bushing's failure, it's a win-win.
