can somebody tell me what sensor is directly beneath the distributor on a 1998 k1500 350. And if its not a sensor what is it

 

pic would help. I would go look under my hood for ya but I have an 87 and a 99...

 

If its at the back of the dist you are probably looking at the oil press sensor.

 

reason im asking is im having a clicking noise immediately followed by a skip in the engine coming from this area. have ruled out distributer and wire and plugs due to the fact that it only does this once the engine is warm. also engine skips severly like fouled plugs or bad wires when driving and then goes right back to running great all along making this clicking as the motor skips

 

sure it's not the cap & rotor?

 

On my 99 the oil pressure switch (one of them) is to the right of the dist. when looking at the front of engine.
Then the firewall is behind the dist.

i can hardly see it myself much less get a picture of it. whatever is causing this missfire just suddenly stopped this after. I have made a couple of trips and it is running as smooth as can be. very odd just dont know i mean obviously a sensor is going bad due to the fact that it only happens at operating temp unless my computer has a glitch which i guess could be and no codes just a missfired cylinder which is obvious

 

If all else fails pull the dist. and check the gear on the bottom, sometime they go bad.
