Hey guys. Pulling into work this morning I looked down at my dash and noticed "Service 4wd" and none of my lights are lit up for my push button 4x4. I did some searching and found a bunch of different answers or problems it could be and was hoping to get some solid answers from you guys.

It's a 2004 Silverado 1500 ext cab and it just hit 153,000. I hardly use the 4x4 but then again have only had the truck about a month and a half. I used the 4wd just fine about 2 weeks ago though when we got some snow. When this happened I can't push the 4wd buttons. Well techincally I can, but nothing happens.

There was no noises or anything when this message came up. Is it a sensor or something simple? Thanks!

Edit: I shut the truck off and started it again with no fix. About an hour later I went out and started it to leave and all is fine again. So what's the deal?

 

to be safe check the fluid level and condition, otherwise you'll need to get codes checked to see which direction to go
