service airbag light

Default service airbag light

yeah , getting this service airbag light.. ive never been in a wreck and i tried resetting the computer (unhooking the battery) and i still get it... anythoughts?

See if you can find someone with a scan tool capable of reading the SIR system. Get a code and go from there. Someone on here'll help you out. What year/make/model of truck?

Does this help at all? If not, get it scanned and get the code out of it and go from there.


Some owners may comment of a SIR MIL and if equipped the temperature/compass display on the inside rearview mirror is inoperative. This concern may be caused by the 15 Amp Air Bag Fuse open. Reports from the field have shown in some cases circuit 1139 Yellow may be shorted to ground at the Left I/P Junction Block mounting bracket as shown below.



Recommendation/Instructions:
To correct the concern repair the wiring as necessary and insulate harness and mounting bracket with foam tape to prevent a reoccurrences

Yah, get someone who has a scan tool and get them to clear the fault code for the airbags

i pulled the fuse it and it was fine and when i put it back in it worked.. weird..

Just an intermittant thing then. I've seen loose connections at the inflator in the steering wheel.

So the fact that my service airbag light is showing up is bc of a short under my hood? or do i just need to take it to a mechanic
