check engine light/service engine soon light canbe anything. in order to read your codes, you need a reader...I think you can buy them at an autoparts store(or pay for a shop to tell you)
If you do buy one. there is a port under the driver side dash. plug it in and turn the ignition on(do not start your truck) your service engine light will flash a certain number of times. match the number in the book and you will find your problem. after you fix it, you will need to reset your computer.
