Default shifting issues with allison automatic...

04 duramax with allison 5 speed auto. here's the issue. trans will run and shift fine up to half throttle, but when floored, it won't shift right away. the motor tops out, stays there for a few seconds, then a hard shift into 2nd, or third. when i hit passing gear, same thing. i have to ease into the throttle, and still won't be able to use full throttle. once in 4th or 5th, it's fine. trans isn't slipping at all, and filter and fluid are less than 15k miles since changed. fluid is full. does this sound like a shift solenoid issue?

i think it does sound like your shift solenoid. my dad had this problem with his 97 chevy van. on his van they were really easy to change. only bad thing about this job is dropping the pan and trying to conserve all the "new" fluid. let us know what happens.

have you checked for any codes. if any thing goes wrong they like to put out codes. Is it going into limp mode? also might want to try a diesel forum, they seem to know alot about them.

no codes, and the couple of diesel forums i'm on, the members aren't willing to help unless you're talking about power adders or tuners.
