Should i swich to chevy
I have grown up liking fords but they have just let me down. It seams that they are being towed more then they are driven. it makes me think that ford really does stand for Found On Road Dead. My brother has a 3500 duramx and it kills my powerstroke. I am just wondering if i should get a chevy
honestly what did you think you would get for an answer on the chevy forum, but here is mine. no automaker is perfect but the general has been treating me good for 12 years and i have no plans of switching, i might buy a dodge sometie but will always love the bowtie
I work on Fords and Chevys regularly. The Chevy is much easier to work on and have less problems. I have nothing against ford my first car was a ranger then I got a 1993 mustang Gt which I still have. Next I bought a explorer and after I had trans problems which were repaired under warranty then failed again I switched to Chevy now I am on my second Tahoe and love it. And example of how much easier a Chevy is to work on I can do a full tune up (cap, rotor, wires and plugs) on a 5.7 liter Chevy motor in 15 min and plugs in a 5.3 in like 7 min. But a 5.4 liter Ford engine takes 1-1.5 to do plugs only. I see a lot more check engine lights and poor running Fords the Chevy by far.

The screw-and-clip speaker mounting is nothing short of flimsy.
I can't speak much for the latter models. I have only worked on one late model F150. It was a 2004 5.4L and the engine pulley layout more that anything is off-putting. Why can't they put the A/C compressor topside? God forbid you ever have to take the belt off. You have to stand on your head to get to the tensioner too. Its the same with the late 90's models.
Ford has good trucks as far as reliability goes. They just fall short of GM in all other aspects in my opinion.
My overall 5-star reveiw of the F-series (5 being perfection) is:
drivetrain and body- 4 stars
interior -2
suspension- 3
easy to work on- 1.5
The Silverado however:
Diesel drivetrain and body- 5
Gas drivetrain and body- 4
Interior- 3
Suspension- 5
easy to work on- 4

Well, you can kick me off the site, but you'll never change my mind.
The only thing worse than a ford is how poorly they're backed by the dealers and the manufacturer.
I can't even believe you can rationally compare ford to a GM or Dodge product. IMO they're pure drek at it's thinnest. "Ford quality"-brings to mind a fresh, steaming cowpie.

another good reason i guess for switching to chevy is that they are a lot easier to work on. for example: i just pulled and old 350 out of my 85 chevy pickup and i am putting a nicely built 1968 chevy 327 back in it.
before putting that 327 in the truck i took some parts of the 350 such as the intake, carb, etc... and they bolt right on to the 327. So i guess what im trying to say is that with chevy you can take parts off another small block engine and put them on a completley differnet small block enigine (same goes with a big block). With ford you have no chance with that. you have to buy specific parts for a specific motor.
