Default Silverado 2500HD

Hey guys, I'm new around here... but not new to Chevy. Well as of right now I"m driving a Toyota Tacoma and want to step up... waaaay up and get the new Silverado 2500 and was wondering if anybody has pics of a Crew Cab the regular bed I believe, they don't have the short bed for the diesels do they, that's lifted. And what MPGs are you guys getting? Thanks!

Hi Wareagle 5693,

Welcome to the Chevy forums.

You'll love the crewcab roominess, and the back seat storage.

My 04 2500HD was getting 11.5 MPG highway from the factory, after I installed a fiberglass cap over the bed, it started getting @14MPG. Low end torque is not as important as MPG to me, so I converted to 342 gears for the highway travel, and now I see @18MPG highway.

They used to come with 410 gears standard, but I can't speak for the newest models.

If you like a firm, solid ride, I think you'll appreciate the E-radials and the 2500HD suspension.

Thanks! I'm still in the looking stages right now, gonna go with a Diesel that's for sure. But do you know of any engine mods that would increase MPGs? I know on my Tacoma if I install a new exhaust and a Cold Air Intake I'll get increased MPGs, up to around 2.5 extra in the city. But what do you suggest for a diesel?

Thanks! Does anybody have any pictures of lifted current model 2500s? Just interested to see what they look like. I won't be lifting it as soon as I get it.

I just bought a Midnight Edition Z71 Crew Cab Duramax and it is a beast. I have had Superdutys years ago and this to me is so much better.

Duramax Crew cabs come in long and short beds. With the new body change in 2020, gear ratio went from 3:73 to 3:42 and use a 10 speed Allison.
