Default Silverado 6.2L MPG?

Does anyone know of a way to get better MPG out of the 6.2L. I love my truck but not the MPG it has an average around 10-12mpg. Any help would be appreciated. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

Do you like your truck? Do you like driving it? Does it make you feel your bigger on the road and more powerfull? The last two question are a little racy...but you get the jist of it.

I have set my budget up for one fill up every two weeks...but I have to adjust as the gas prices keep going up...but i am ok with that. I get about 10.5 a gallon and 11.5 when I strictly do freeway drivng.

I am with you and I want to increase the gas mileage too, but I realized it will be an expensive haul with little reward.

If you are like me (see above) then you will keep your truck and endure the 12 MPG. One thing I hate to hear is when people are willing to endure car payments + gas because ther vehicle is a gas hog....you will pay less overall on the latter.

I have a 2010, flex fuel, 6.2 crew cab with 18,000 miles on it. My average mileage from day one is 17 mpg, have in town and half highway driving. I do run premium gas in it.

It's a sign that I am getting old, but when I saw "6.2L" in the title, I was assuming that it referred to the old 6.2L diesel from the early 1980s. Doh!

I have a 2004 Silverado with a 5.3L V8, 2wd and the 3.73:1 axle ratio. My truck averages 15 to 17 miles per gallon.....so it should stand to reason that a 2010 with the 6.2L V8 would do somewhat worse, especially if it is a 4x4 and has the larger wheels & tires. These full-size trucks are not exactly designed for high fuel mileage, ya know.

I paid over $80 to fill my tank a few days ago, and the prices continue upward. I have been driving my Silverado less frequently and using my '02 Nissan Sentra (4 cyl) most of the time - as it uses half the fuel of the truck. I am glad that I did not sell it when the idea came to mind last year.

Anyway, even though gas is more expensive, I am going to keep my truck. I'll just cut back on something else - dining out, movies, eating steak, etc., etc. I don't think people will drive less than we do now, but other "luxury" spending will likely be curtailed (which will still hurt our already struggling economy). I am taking a vacation closer to home and staying in a "lesser quality" condo in order to save a few bucks. We'll also prepare some of our meals in its kitchen rather than going out all the time.

The best thing anyone can do now is to be sure that your vehicle is tuned propery, your tires contain the proper amount of air pressure and that you go easy with the "go pedal" - or it will cost ya at the pump!

I increased the fuel mileage on my 6.0 from 11-12 to 15mpg. I installed a Volant CAI, a catback exhaust, and what really helped was my Blackbear Performance Tune... It took off some stock restrictions and a few other things. I have 4.10 gears, and putting 33s on there offset those low gears.

Not sure what your doing wrong but I have never got less than 14 when out racing mine. I pulled a loaded trailer from ft. worth Texas to saint Louis Missouri and got about 17.5.
