I had to change a flat tire today for the first time for this vehicle (2,400 miles , and discovered that I absolutely hate the people that decided to put that lame piece o' s**t jack in my truck. Screw-type jack that takes a hundred million turns to raise the truck enough to get the flat tire off and a spare on.

Any suggestions for something far superior (shouldn't take much) that would fit under the rear seat of my extended cab 2010, and wouldn't cost an arm and a leg?

You can pick up a bottle jack from Harbor Fright or Walmart pretty inexpensive and they are small in size.

harbor freight and others also sell aluminum low profile small floor jacks that lift fast ,5race car use !

That jack is my "Always buried,-always there, in case of an absolute emergency" jack.

I found a large scissors-jack out of a large SUV at the junkyard which I carry with me, and a standard hydraulic jack I bought at pep-boys which I use at home.

Don't lose that jack or the emergency jack handle. If you think they suck now, wait till you see what a dealer charges to replace them. You could buy a used forklift for that fargun much $$.

If you want a good laugh, search for the thread about people not being able to get the spare tire down. Actually, you may want to read it because it's a real eye-opener.

 

Thanks for the replies. I looked at Harbor freight and was surprised how little it costs to get a bottle jack. Doesn't have to be too high quality since you use them so little (My last Silverado I had for 10.25 years, never had a flat, never lowered the spare, I feel for the guy who bought it from me if he ever has to lower that spare). I have to check out the small floor jacks now. jack is the second person to tell me about these today.
