Default Silverado Overheating

Hey guys, I'm basically new to Chevy in general, with just some knowledge on maybe a 350 and the LS series haha

anyways we have this 2000 4.3 silverado and as we were driving it just started to overheat and so on, so I get some water, pop the hood, and its coming from area right below where a heater hose comes out of the firewall and goes back to the front/top of the engine.

Its not coming from the hose itself, but underneath the hose (maybe a gasket goes there that blew out?)

anyways any help would be appreciated!

Heator core would be my guess as well. You could bypass the core with a coupler to see if that is indeed the problem. Take both hoses off and couple them together and see if the engine runs hot. If not you will need to replace the core.

dad took it over to the shop, looks like its coming from a bad intake manifold gasket, idk whats worse to do, the gasket or the heater core....

but my gut says the gasket wouldn't be that bad, just removing all the stuff on top of the manifold
