Default Soft Brake Pedal after State Inspection

2005 Silverado. 1500

Today I had my truck inspected in Virginia and when driving away from the garage I was dismayed to see that my brake pedal goes MUCH further down than it used to.

Now, I have done brake jobs dozens of times over the years and I know that this is usually indicative of air in one or more of the brake lines. I also know that its an easy fix, usually just bleeding the lines.

What has me scratching my head, is what would they have done to cause this??

Typically in VA, the tech pulls one front and one rear wheel and examines the material remaining on the pads, and looks at the rotor for excessive wear, scoring etc.

But I have never seen one crack a bleeder valve and I have never seen them mess with any other part of the brake system.

So....before I schlep it back there and ask a stupid question.....any ideas??

Many thanks. This seems crazy to me.

The pedal goes about halfway down with minimal resistance before the truck slows, then his more resistance about two thirds down. This is were the braking really kicks in.

Kinda sucks it does.
