Default Speaker upgrade

Well it's my mom's birthday soon and most of her speaker's are blown in her ext. cab 2000 silverado(my bass cds probly helped them die) and I was gonna get her all new speakers. Now she isn't sound huge sound freak so I was gonna replace them all even though a nice 3-way companent setup would be really easy to setup in these.

If someone could tell me the size of the speakers for the front and rear doors that would be great. I was going to take a guess and say the fronts are probly 6 1/2 with a seperate tweeter and then the rears looks like maybe 5 1/4s. Not sure though.

I've done, 2 speaker replacements in 2 different silverado's, one an 01 Ext. Cab and the other an 03 Reg. Cab, they were both 6.5's up front and 4x6 in the rear, Pioneer's might be the best up front since Gm actually uses 6.75" speakers in the door....your gonna need to do some drilling though for the install on a newer model.....hope this helps...

You should be able to go to Wal-Mart or an audio store and ask.
They make factory replacents.
You will more than likely have to do some drilling for the front as SILVERADO1 said.

Not to sure about the tweeter size, check out MTX's web site, they have a component set specifically for these trucks...

Ehh I don't really like MTX. More than likely I'm gonna go with a mix of speakers or I might even do a diy component set with my own crossover and some dayton home theater speakers. Not sure if I'm gonna put in the back speakers either cause well their 4x6 which isn't a good speaker size in the first place and rear fills arn't the right way to do it. I'll have see but I'm pretty sure I will be able to get an amp also to power which ever speakers I get. More than likely some sort of a Hifonics amp.

You should be able to get a box that will go under the back seat. If you mom dosen't put anythink under there. Is the jack under on that year. If so that would have to go elsewhere. I personally would suggest 2 10's, or even 1. The 10's can sound better than a 12 because when the speaker hits and the face moves it doesn't have to move as far as a 12. (Faster response, sounds better) Your mom probably dosen't turn it up too loud. I would still do the front speakers so you have some good sound at the front. For speakers I would recomend Memphis or JL Audio. And I wouldn't mix brands. But that's just me.
I have a single 10 in my 91 Sanoma, it will vibrate the center mirror enough to make an escort look like a semi.
But that is a regular cab to. Still for your mom it should be more than enough.
Buy the way my speaker is on the drivers side, the box goes almost the lenght of the seat, I have just enough room for the amp beside it. It has a 1 1/2 2 inch hole that goes almost the full height of the box. When you sit in it on the passanger side it sounds like their is a speaker on that side. But you can feel it thru the seat more on the driverside.
I have a friend with a 06 Silverado with the same setup, it sound just as good. His is a reg cab too.
Hope this helps you out some how.

I havn't mentioned anything about a subwoofer.

I just needed to know what size they were. And mixing the brands is perfectly fine. In most cases it's best so you can get the best performance cause I havn't seen too many companies that can put out the best amps, subs, and companents. Also has to do with pricing as I always go for the best bang for the buck. That's why I'm going with the Dayton 6 1/2s, Audax 1' tweeter, Dayton 2-way crossovers, and probly a Hifonics amp.

I know JL Audio and Memphis make great products but for performance wise the daytons will sound just as good for being a DIY setup. That's all the rage now it seems is to do the DIY setups.

I'm actually fixing to do a DIY 3-way companent setup in my sonoma. Plus two 15' Adire Audio Brahmas ported to 27Hz should sound good and be able to bring on the pain.

You also said you were going to put in an amp and home theater speakers. As for your sonoma it should sound good, but mine is fine as I have no wish to go deaf anytime soon.

Yea, the amp is to power the door speakers and the hometheater speakers are going to be in the doors.

And I actually hadn't planned on going big in my sonoma but I got to have more. I thought my last system was enough which it was when I first got it but now it's not. The old system was a Infinity 1042 10' sub and the box was built into the jumpseat since it's an ext. cab. It was powered by a JL Audio 250/1 amp, and then I had Pioneer companent speakers. It was decent but there is alot of room for improvement for sound quality which for my next system is what I'm definatly going for.
