i've been involved with car audio for over 20 years. i've used and installed almost every combination of equipment. the rms number refers to the max that your deck will put out and the max that speakers can handle. at half volume, any deck is not putting out the rms rated number. now, speakers are only as good as the sound getting to them. if you have a quality deck, then you can run stock speakers and sound good, run aftermarket sound even better. but using a cheap, swap meet special deck, you're gonna get cheap, swap meet special sound.
as far as the fosgate speakers, i personally never liked them. but there are some who swear by them. i've heard them sound good, heard them sound bad. it all depends on what's running them, and the install.
what are you using for a deck?

i was also checking out the boston acoustic s75. awhile ago i heard that boston speakers were pretty good. and im glad you agree with my choice. i was afraid that you would have said the opposite. but i think ill take your word and stick with pioneer. what is the main reason for speakers not working. i wired my deck last night and front speakers work but neither rear speaker is. i got close to the speakers and just heard static like noise?

did you get the harness adapter to put it all in with? there should be two different speaker wire harnesses. one for the fronts and one for the rear, as well as the power and ground harness. if memory serves, the speaker wire colors are blue/lt blue, yellow/brown, green/lt green, tan/gray. i can't recall which set of wires goes to which speaker, but you should see these colors at the factory end of harness plug.
