Starting issue

1999 Chevy k3500 454. I try and start my truck and its cranks just doesnt turn over unless i hit the gas. its like theres no fuel in the lines until it primes itself..

Any idea?!

Does it run good once it starts? If so the check valve in the fuel pump assembly is bad.

Yep runs great after that. It feels like im starting a carbed truck. . If that valve is bad do i have to replace the whole assembly or just that valve. Or witch is easier.
