Steering knocking sound
I have a 2003 Silverado 2500 HD 4X4 6.0 engine. Whenever I make a turn (either direction) and go over a bump there is a knocking sound coming from my steering column. Any ideas?

Its your steering control arm, I am 100% sure. 90% of the SUV's and trucks from chevy get that. Its not critical or a dangerous thing, just annoying.
There are many threads about it, I will try to dig one up for more details for you.

Thanks Mike! So the intermediate steering shaft or steering control arm--where can I get a workshop manual on my vehicle? I am not that impressed with Haynes--I know there has to be something the dealership guys use. I have never worked on steering/suspension before--is there anything I need to know before doing this?

Try to get a subscription to AllData.com it is one of 2 programs that most independent shops use. It is a direct copy of the manufactures service manual. The shaft you need is the intermediate steering shaft not the control arm.
