Default tbi

i have a 1987 tbi chevy truck , is running very rich is fuel because i can smell it in the exhaust. and one of the injectors is making a ticking noise. can the injector be the cause of my trouble.

I would try changing the cts coolant temp sensor beside thermostat housing.
If it is giving wrong info to ecu.. ecu will think it is -22 degrees and keep adding fuel for warm up time. Cost 10 bucks can cause a lot of issues if bad.

Hey loosebearing, I've been f**king with an 87 2.8L for the past couple of weeks and that's the 1 sensor I completely ruled out(in my mind). Thinking to myself, how could the CTS possibly effect the amount of fuel delivered to my TBI. You just inspired me to get off the computer and go to parts store. I'll give it a shot and report back soon, hopefully with good news.

Changed out the CTS, it improved the performance somewhat but I'm still searching for what sensor to replace next. She's still studdering at idle and gear shift points.
