I have a 1999 Chevy Silverado and on my rear view mirror it tells me the temp and compass direction. The temp gauge on it is not working at all. It is giving me all sorts of bizarre temp readings. I was wonderng if anyone knew were the sensor was and how to fix it. My dad has a 2001 tahoe and his is located on the windshield, but mine is not. Any suggestions????

What brand of mirror is it? (Not all of those mirrors are standard factory brands).
When the mirror is installed afterwards, they could have placed the temp gauge practically everywhere on your car. But there should be wires running towards it.

im not sure about 99, but the older models alot of times it was right behind the grille, so sitting in traffic or after shutting the engine off they go to well over 100*.
it was only really accurate when you were moving.
