My 1500 HD (6L gas) made new noise the other day driving home. Had the AC on as it's been hot around here. When I hit the accelorator this ugly sound (like loose change in a jar) was loud under the hood. Happens when I hit the gas every time. When I fliiped the AC off the noise would not happen. No warning lights or idiot lights have come on but somethings up. Any ideas before I have to go see a shop?

 

Sounds to me like the Compressor Clutch is gone.

So how much do these things cost vs. what would a shop charge me to fix the problem? Is it a pretty easy job or better to take it to the pros?
