thinking of buying my first chevy a 04 2500hd
so right now my ride is a 1999 dodge ram 1500 5 inch lift 35s on 20s and the whole 9 yards. But i cracked the heads and am looking in a driver while i fix it.
I found a 2004 chevy silverado 2500hd 4 door 6.5ft box for 14000 is that a high price?
Im not sure what miles are on cuz its sunday and they just got it yesterday so i have not been able to talk to them about it.
What are some goods and bads of them trucks ive never owned one so idk what kind of normal problems to look for when purchasing one.
And if im correct the 2500HD in 2004 came with the 6.0 L V8 not the diesel right?

It's not diesel. The Ford Powerstroke had a 6.0 diesel. I'm sure the Silverado your looking at is fully loaded thats why they want 14,000. I'll just say I paid 19,900 for my 07 brand new. But mine is more like the old Chevy Cheyennes. The only option I have is the tow package and cruise control. But according to KBB 14,000 is about the retail value of a fully loaded 04 crew cab.

Depending on how many miles it has it doesn't sound like a bad deal. Anyone else out there let me know if I'm wrong. The 6.0 is a strong engine. You won't get much gas mileage, but if you had a Dodge running 35s, I don't think gas mileage is at the top of your list.

yeah. not looking for gas mileage. I use my truck for work. not heavy loading but going from job to job if i have stuff to haul i do it. I could do with a small engine but i like to have the big boy for future use.
I looked on some internet site and for the truck used depending on what its got is between 13000-16000 so its in the price range. but im not sure what kind of miles it has on it.
Body was in great shape, didnt notice any dents or scraps and for rust the dual exhaust heated up the bumper and is basically discoloring the chrome and thats it.
Im going there after work tomorrow and talking to him and hopefully i can get it

my son had a 06 2500 series and it was a very good truck
problems: got poor fuel mileage about 11 in town and 14-15 on road
rode rough on a choppy road but on a good smooth road it was fine.
his was a crew cab short bed but it had lots of power.
no problem that i know of before he turned it in at 40K and got a new 09 1500

If the mileage and price is right ill pick it up.
Ive been thinking of getting a chevy for awhile and now that my motor is fugged for awhile ill get one. Dodge isnt making anything i like anymore and ford has no power.
