Well...i would like to know up´s and down´s about the s10....what´s good and what´s bad. Weakness and pro´s...how about mpg? That´s an issue in europe.....the gas is 1.84 dollar per litre (0.23 gallon) right now. But that´s not an issue as much as i will be using the s10 to during winter and to transport junk.....summertime i ride my harley or my BMW R1100GS (motorcycles)

I really like the look of the s10...but i need some input about this vehicle from the ones that know it..and use it...

mpg in mine i get anywhere from 20-30mpg with the 4.3
hauling just average evryday junk it can handle quite a bit alot ppl around here use them to haul atv's and dirt bikes ..... hauling a trailor due to the short wheel base it does decent but not great pending on size of trailor

in the winter they are really light in the *** end so 2wd you will have traction issues so i would suggest a 4wd

OK, thanks! Is there something in particular to watch out for when buying a S10? Problem with rust? Anything else?

Yes, maybe a 4wd would be better but we usually dont have that much snow where i live (besides this winter - it´s been a pain).

Hi from the UK,
Had my 99 Blazer S10 for 18 months now, only expensive problem was the heater radiator leaking, the whole dash had to come out to replace it. Had mine converted to run LPG half the price of petrol over here. Presume yours would be left hand drive, RHD are a pain to get certain parts for surprising how many bits were changed. Look for the service 4WD light coming on, mine was doing that but have changed the switches and all seems OK. Found it great to drive in the snow and ice, mine does have AT tyres though. Don't know if you have Chevy garages over there, no support for them in the UK!

for rust its about the same spots you would see on any chevy truck look at cab corners rocker panels and bed sides (around where the wheel is)
sometimes rust can be found on bottom side of the door on the inside

I have two s-10's and I load them down hauling scrap metal pulling a dual axle tralor 25 Ft long. Trust me the 4.3 will pull and haul more than it's fair share. Only problems I have have are fuel pump and fuel guage problems. My 87 is 4x4 and my 05 is not. If you can find 4x4 that's the way to go.
