I have an 05 silverado Z71 crew cab w/ a 3.42 rear end. Its rated to tow 7400 lbs. I have a travel trailer that weighs 6200 lbs. While I know that I am under my rating, my question is "Am I really tearing up my drivetrain?" I ask this on this forum because I would like the answer from some experienced Chevy truck guys, not some BS'r who might try to sell me a new 3/4 or 1 ton truck that I might not really need.

 

I had the 1500 hd 2001 model a lot better on power and payload.Had a few problems with the 6.0 engine. Would probaly go Diesel next time. This half ton truck 1500 z71 is not a power truck buy far compared to my last one.I added the ride-rite air bags to the springs for just haul my 4 wheeler and keep my lights out of the trees.Good normal use truck but not for hauling heay loads and alot of off-roading.

 

What problems did you have w/the 6.0 engine? I just bought an '07 (Classic) 1500 HD few weeks ago and I tow a 2 horse trailer. Other than that, did you have any problems with the truck? What can I expect? Thanks
