Default trailer wiring gone bad

I bought a camper trailer some years ago. The dealer of the camper said I had to have additional wiring, a 7 pin connector vice 6 pin. Everything worked great for about 3 years then my brake lights came on and wouldn't go off. I pulled fuses, circuit breakers they still stayed on. Disconnect the battery lights went off. Went back to the camper dealer and they fixed the problem and gave me back 3 parts. One of the parts is a rod with a sliding piece that has a 2 pin socket to it, the other part is a bare rod with a eyelet?, and the third is a 6 pin older connector. What the dealer(business) did, which is long gone now, was wire a push button(looks like a giant door bell) on top of my brake pedal(works fine), also I now have a 2 pin elect connection that is plugged to a assembly that's just dangling. NOW, my fix (so it will pass inspection, which is the same inspector that had passed it for 3 years failed it this year) is I can switch the 2 pin plug to the 2 pin assy that's on the rod and attach it to its bracket. My concern is the power wire that is going to the brake pedal(ie,,giant door bell). Do I just disconnect that red power wire and cap it off it with tape. Also where this rod that has the sliding 2 pin connector is supposed to be attached, that same rod on the opposite side has a rod in a cable that doesn't move, it is supposed to attached to the tilt steering. it doesn't move. I was told by the dealer it was supposed too.
