Yea, I did. It does not include a filter swap. I suppose I'd have to ask for it and pay extra.

It's the local Chevy dealer.

I might just try and drop the pan and replace the filter myself since it seems to be the consensus around here.

How big of a mess is it when you drop the pan? How much new fluid should I have on hand? I've never done it.

Sorry for another stupid question....

Doesn't the book state the amount of fluid needed from empty. Dropping the pan will only remove a few quarts, right?

Appreciate all your guys help!!

Yes it can and probably will be messy, fortunately trans fluid is somewhat easy to clean up compaired to motor oil.
I would purchase about 6 quarts and add about 3-4, drive it around the block a bit if it slips well then you need a bit more, if it doesn't slip let it warm up and then check and add as needed....
use an old milk jug to pour the old fluid into to get an idea of how much came out 1gal = 4 quarts

Make sure the filter is seated and snug when you install it, you don't want it popping back out, if it dose you will have slippage and will have to do the whole thing over again....

Changing tranny fluid is the same as changing oil, just a bit messier, just don't over fill it, take your time to clean the gasket seating area, use a torque wrench on the bolts and go in the recommended tightening order.
Don't tighten any one bolt all the way, get them all tight with your fingers then slowly criss-cross tighten to the spec...

No I don't know the spec but will try and look it up if someone doesn't chime in first...
