Default Transmission Temp

05 silverado 2500 6.0 eng auto 4x4. This truck is equipped with the towing package (I think) it has the button on the column. I bought the truck at the beginning of the winter NORTHERN MN. The temp has not moved unless I was pulling the deer shack. The rest of the time it stayed on 0. Now that it has warmed up to the mid 40"s the gauge is claiming to 50-100 deg. Is this normal and will it get higher the warmer it gets. What should the normal temp be. Thanks

Transmission temps will normally run anywhere from 170 to 225°.

I have 04 with the same set up. I'm seeing the same thing happening. Pulling my boat in 90 degree heat will get it up over 200 but it's normal.

Hi kit141a, Welcome to the Chevrolet Forums.

My '04 2500HD 6.0 CCLB shows temps @160 till I start towing

a large trailer. Then it heats up to the 230 range.

One other thing I forgot to ask about. When should you start using the overdrive shut-off on the steering column. Never used it before and when should it be used. Does it have to do anything with the temp. Thanks
