Truck started smoking!
I have a 1988 Chevy k1500 stepside shortbed. It runs good, have no issues when running. Been a great truck so far. When i start it up it smokes out of the exhaust for a couple of minutes but once it warms up it doesn't smoke again. I've been told its burning oil and it could be the valve seals. If anybody has any insight to what it might be or could help me find something to help me analyze the problem and fix it. I'm researching online but you know how that goes as well. Thanks for any help given.

I would say the piston rings are probably worn and on cold start it smokes and when your motor heats up they expand and doesn't let oil leak on the top of the piston where it burns the oil. I mean I believe it to be straight forward that it's more than likely the piston rings and to fix it is to replace those. I'm just saying unless this is something you want to get into and replace those, I have seen em run for a long time burning a little oil and I wouldn't worry about it too much except to check oil to make sure you don't burn off too much.
