Default Uhaul trailer speed

Has anyone pulled a Uhaul trailer over the 45 mph recommended max speed? I'm making a trip from Texas to Oregon and I don't want to go 45 mph the whole way.

Default RE: Uhaul trailer speed

They will go as fast as you want them to go. I've towed a bunch of them 65-75 MPH all day long. I wouldn't push it much over the speed limit though. They have had that stupid 45 MPH sign on their trailers sinceat least the early 60's when I rented my first one. Their law dept. had them put that on there to reduce their liability on trailer related wrecks. Keep most of the weight in the trailer towards the front of the trailer and it will tow and track better, if you get the rear of the trailer heavier than the front, the trailer will fish tail, possibly violentlyand it usually starts fishtailing when you get above 45 MPH.
