Default Valvetrain Question

I am about to begin the parts buying process to get my LY6 back together for the truck in my signature. Only good parts I have is the crank, block, and connecting rods. I plan on buying a Cylinder Head and Cam kit. My question is, to delete the Variable Valve Timing, do I need to do a delete through the computer? I know I need a new timing cover and cam gear. Google has only taken me so far on the software side of this build.

Are you sure you mean the VVT or the AFM?

The VVT, I do not have AFM, I knew I didn't, but I double checked a long time ago. I'm wanting to delete the VVT to run the cam I'd like to run.

The reason I don't believe I have AFM, one its a W/T, and because the lifter valley cover is flat. I've been told, and have seen that 6.0s with AFM have a different cover. After doing a lil more research, watched a lot of youtube. doesn't look like I need to tune the VVT out. Its just a parts swap. Now on to finding a decent machine shop for the block...
