Default Vibration when in 4 cyl mode?

I have an 08 1500 Silverado NBS with the 5.7 V8 where the computer will shut off half the cylinders when not needed. When I bought the truck I'm pretty sure that I didn't notice any difference when it switched from 8 to 4 and that while in 4 the engine was fine.

About January this year I started to notice that when in 4 the engine has a differnent pitch as I could also feel a difference like a vibration in the gas pedal.

Is this normal? Do they all do this?

My truck has been to the dealer more times then I care to mention and when I spoke to them on the phone I got the "they all do that answer" but was told if I wanted to bring it in to do so. I could take the few hours to go and do it but like I said I'm tired of seeing the dealership on a truck with only 18k miles on it.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I don't notice a difference in performance it's just more of a noise/vibration that I am feeling.

I would assume it would sound a little higher pitched because your losing that V8 rumble and you have a 5.3 not a 5.7.

I don't know about the vibration but to be honest with you those aren't things that I would worry about too much, if it gets worse I would but...to each his owwn

thanks when I was typing 5.7 I was even thinking it wasn't a 5.7 but my ford was a 5.4 so that is why I did the 5.7.

Yeah the 5.7 was discontinued in the American trucks in either 99 or 2000 I can't remember.

I didn't notice any vibration whatsoever during the 2 highway gas mileage checks of 23.7mpg and 22.0mpg . . . . but then I don't even know if it ever switched from 8 to 4 cylinder . . . . although I would assume that it did to get that kind of gas mileage . . . at 60mph and with the 3.42, the tach was consistently reading 1600rpm . . . . the lowest cruising speed rpm I have ever had at 60mph on any vehicle

I know you hate to hear it, but dodge still uses the 5.7 in it's hemi. I know what you mean though, chevy quit using them in 2000.
