Weight of my truck
I cant seem to understand what the weight listings on my door placard mean. My registration papers I just go in the mail say it weighs 3,800 empty. Is that right? That's not much. On my door it says 5700 GVRW. What is the dead weight of the truck, no people, no cargo, no fuel, just the truck. All of this front and rear, loaded GVRW, GVVWRRWW-S, and GVWFFTRW stuff is crazy. Its a 1992 1/2T shortbed, 305.

about 3800 is probly right.
the GVWR is the weight of the vehicle with its full capacity (passengers cargo and whatnot) you take the GVWR (largest weight number) and subtract the total carrying capacity and thats the vehicles weight. say like my car is 3800 GVWR, its passeneger / cargo capacity is 800lbs total so the weight of the car is 3000 lbs.
