Hey guys...I was doing some reading on the specs and from what I can find the 07 Tahoe can handle about 7100 lbs to the brakes...if there is an additional, lets say 150 lbs rolling weight when replacing factory wheels w/ larger, is that a completely different scenario when you factor in how much weight your brakes can handle?

The brakes are not the limiting factor on the Tahoe when calculating the tow rating.

The figure (7100 lbs) is in reference to the Tahoe's Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and it is simply the maximum weight that the vehicle can weigh when fully loaded (no trailer).

The Gross Combined Vehicle Weight Rating (GCWR) which is the total weight of the Tahoe and the trailer, this needs to be adhered to when you have a trailer in tow.
The GCWR can be as much as 14,000lbs for a 5.3L Tahoe with 4.10 gears.

With this in mind; if you add 150lbs of equipment to your Tahoe you are OK so long as you do not exceed 7,100lbs (not towing) or a total combined weight of up to 14,000lbs (depending on your exact Tahoes spec's) when towing a trailer.

There are also Gross Axle Weight Ratings (GAWR) which are 3,600lbs front and 4,100lbs rear which means at no time should either of these axles be loaded beyond this rating even if you are under to GVWR, GCVR or the Tahoe's maximum trailer tow rating.

If in doubt weigh your Tahoe at any truck stop with certified scales.
