I have a weird problem going on with my truck and I thought someone here might of had this happen.
While driving and gradually turning I suddenly loose steering effort. Its not enough to make me go out of control but the loss of effort makes me jerk the wheel. This happens during gradual turns and even going straight sometimes. It only last for a split second but will happen again in a few seconds. Also when im at a dead stop 90% of the time I dont have any powersteering at all. Once I creep alittle bit i regain my powersteering. I checked all the bulletins and only found a bulletin concerning a steering angle sensor. I dont think that is the problem, but I may be wrong. Has anyone here had this problem?
Also looking for some center caps for my wheels. Like the ones pictured below. Somebody ripped me off.![Frown](https://chevroletforum.com/forum/images/smilies/frown.gif)

The sensor at the bottom of the steering column needs replacing. It is a donut looking piece that detects how fast the steering wheel is turning. I had the same problem on my 1998 Silverado. The best way to describe it is like "Driving on ice". It's not hard to replace, it just requires you to get on the floor and work under the dash. As I recall, it cost me about $60 from the Chevrolet dealer parts dept.
