Default what is this part

On the tbi 350 motors there is a tube going from the drivers side valve cover to the back of the throttle body. Mine broke and when I try to explain what I need to the guys at autozone they look at me like im stupid. Can I run the motor without it because I plan on finishing installing the motor in the morning and would like to see if it runs.
