Default Wheel & Tire question...

Can someone point me towards a guide on this....

I want change out my stock wheels and tires for something nicer. I want to get some say 18 or 19 inch wheels. What's the largest size tire I can put on my truck with these wheels at stock heighth.

& then also, Id like to keep the same aftermarket wheels for pre and post lift.... I assume these same 18 or 19 inch wheels could support the larger size mudd tires?

Thanks guys./

is your truck 4x4? or 4x2? i have an 04 4x4 with 17s and 285 tires. a little bit of plastic had to be trimmed but not much. you could probably do 18s with a 285 and some trimming to the lower valance. 285s are somewhat similar to a 33" tire.

Default info

also you might want to put a leveling kit on your truck or atleast crank up the torsion links to fit a 285 under there...thats the cheap way to do it or, go for the spendy way, full suspension lift and long arm kit. with a lift you can fit a much meatier tire under there.

a leveling kit with kit and alignment is a little pricey. depends on how you want to go about it. theres 3 ways
1. new torsion keys, spacers for shocks. ride will stiffen up.
2. new keys, and 4 new shocks
3. new keys, 4 shocks and rear blocks.

i would say 265 is probably as big as you can go at stock height. i've heard that 18s-20s will give your truck a street look, if you will, without lifting the truck. if you lift the truck, clearly go with 20s to give it the off road look.
