A total of 4 is only if you have dual exhaust, right? I have a 99 Silverado extended cab with 5.3 V-8 but it only has single exhaust. I should only have two O2 sensors, right? I haven't been under the truck yet seeing as I've only had it a couple of months and the driveway is covered with snow and ice. Looking under the hood I can see what I believe is the O2 sensor on the passenger side on that leg of the "Y" pipe. I also get the P 0420 OBD code which I will check into further this spring. A mechanic I know told me that the O2 sensor would be the cheapest to change before worrying about the CAT. He also said they sell lots of O2 sensor for Silverado pickups. More so than cat convertors.

It doesn't matter if you have dual exhaust or no. The engine has exhaust from both sides of the engine which go together under the truck to form one exhaust. Both of these sides have their own 02 sensors for a total of 4.
