I'm currently in the process of pulling the motor out of my 92 k1500 to rebuild it. I'm rebuilding it because the motor has 187k and has a nasty knock after warm up and the oil pressure goes bye bye. So, i suspected a bad main/rod bearing. Anyways, ive already bought the whole rotating assembly and have the motor almost ready to be lifted out. The only thing is, is that i'm kinda stuck at the inspection plate. I cant get it out with the y-crossover pipe in the way. Is there a way to cheat? I didn't really feel like dropping the whole exhaust.

You have no choice, you'll most likely have to drop the Y pipe to pull the motor anyway.
