Default Window Problem

I have a 97 k1500 with power windows. The pass. side door got smashed so i bought a new one. My question is in the service manuel it say to get the glass out I hace to put the window down and remove it all as a assy. What can I do if the window wont go down? How do I get it out?

In my dodge van if you unbolt and remove the motor the window slides down.

I just looked at a picture of the window unit on the web, it is very similar. I can't see details well, but I'm still betting you can remove the case over the motor and remove the rotor. This will disengage the gear and the window will slide down.
