Default 2011 chevy cruze

I have a 2011 chevy cruze, I have an issue that's been happening for the past 2 days and I also just got an oil change. As I'm driving with the AC off, a message on my dash saying AC off due to high engine temp pops up, also the temp gauge keeps going up to 3/4 of the way to hot and back to the middle and this goes on and on. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the problem may be and how I can take care of it before it becomes a huge problem?

I would first check my coolant level.

Try disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes.
That should reset the PCM.

While you're at it, check all the wiring and hoses under the hood.
There's a possibility something could have been dislodged
during the oil change.

Can you tell me what happened because I’m experiencing the same issue! Except in my case it’s not something that always happens which makes it really fun trying to tell a mechanic the issue.
