I'm driving a 2007 chevy Silverado Lt 4×4 crew cab shorted with 5.3 liter engine,i keep hearing Like a grinding and popping sound coming from i think drivers side front end,thinking maybe cv axle,popped out of cruise also recently and kinda sounds like brakes grinding with a popping noise,help,I'm 75 miles from home and afraid to drive it home and messing something else up??

 

I would check the wheel bearings, jack up the front tires and grab the tire at 12 and 6 o clock and see if you can rock the tire. You shouldn't feel any movement by hand. CV axle is possible but usually noticeable only when turning unless they are really bad.


Wore out brakes or bad wheel bearings would be the likely suspects from your symptoms
