I have a 1995 Checy G20 conversion van with 3 good sized side windows. I just bought this and am trying to make it look half decent. My question is at the top of each of those windows where the rubber seal runs around the top of the glass it stops. Then a completely seperate piece of straight rubber MAYBE 30" +- is there. Now at each end of this straight piece there is a distance of about 5/8" +- that doesn't go and meet the curved piece that runs almost completely around window. The glass installer who put in my front window rubber piece said that gap was needed for expansion, but I just don't believe it. I think he doesn't know the answer. So is there suppose to be gaps in the window rubber pieces for expansion? If not is it okay to seal the gaps up with a sealant?
