05 Aveo engine trouble
Hi all,
I am fairly new to the forum and this is my first post. My 05 Aveo made a very odd metal on metal noise today and then I lost engine power. I immediately pulled over and shut it down. The best way I can describe the sound is silverware in a garbage disposal. Any ideas on what might have happened to my evil little car?
Thanks

Hi Darkpixie,
Welcome to the Chevy Forums.
My best guess, given the amount of available info currently at hand, was your timing belt broke. That noise was probably valves colliding with piston heads inside your cylinders.
(hopefully I'm wrong)
What's your mileage? There are service bulletins to change the timing belt at least every 60K miles.
If your drive belt outside the engine broke, it would be a comparative stroke of luck.
You'll notice when you open the hood if your alternator and other mechanicals are still
hooked up to a belt, or if there's a belt flopping around loose around the bottom of your engine compartment.
